Vano Merabishvili, Nodar Khaduri to Debate on January 22

Tbilisi. January 16 (Prime-News) – TV debates between Secretary General of the United National Movement Vano Merabishvili and Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri will be held on January 22 on Rustavi 2.
As Rustavi 2 TV informs, Nodar Khaduri and Vano Merabishvili will be hosted by Nino Shubladze’s political talk show Position.
Yesterday, Vano Merabishvili expressed his readiness to debate with Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri over the issues related to the country’s budget.
As Merabishvili stated at a briefing yesterday, a budgetary crisis had begun in Georgia and it is is caused by a decrease in revenues. Economic activities have decreased, which is reflected in the reduction of export and import, as well as a decrease of manufacturing in Georgia and trade, Merabishvili said. According to him, the volume of debts has alarmingly increased between Georgian economic entities. In order to hide this crisis, the Georgian government has restored the old practice – paying taxes in advance, he said.
Merabishvili explained that the primary cause is harassment of businesses. “Businesses are inspected every day by financial police, tax inspection, and prosecutor’s office and, what is most alarming, by the Ministry of Internal Affairs”, he said.
Vano Merabishvili named suspension of infrastructure projects as the second cause. ‘It has already increased rate, which led to decrease of revenues’, he said.
